An impressive 19th century walnut breakfront bookcase. The upper case having four sections, each having adjustable shelves. The two end sections, each having one single glazed door, with an ebony surround. The two centre sections, each section having two glazed doors with an ebony surround.
The uprights having carved detail with invert flute and fan detail.
The base having four sections. The end sections, each having a single door with a carved crest detail and an ebony outline.
The two centre sections, each section having two carved and panelled doors, with an ebony outline.
The uprights having carved and invert flute detailing.
On a moulded plinth having an ebony detail.
The cornice having carved and ebony detailing.
The upper-case showing a brass plaque with in a description as below;
........ 'This bookcase which formally belonged to the Rev'd W.D. Boulay
........ Was presented in 1928 by his niece Mrs Graham Aldous of Gedding Hall
......... To the Cullum Library.
Dismantles in many parts.
English, circa 1880.
