Marquetry inlaid burr walnut Pier cabinet with pierced ormolu mounts c1860. The cabinet has a rectangular walnut veneered top with ebonised moulded edge over a concave burr walnut frieze with marquetry box inlaid decorative panel, with box line and decorative ormolu band to its lower edge. Box inlaid marquetry panels repeated on both door columns with cast ormolu mounts. Single glazed door with box lines and ormolu escutcheon opens to reveal a shelved interior with original blue velvet lining. Door columns and door veneered in burr walnut over an ebonised moulding and shaped walnut veneered plinth. Working lock and supplied with key. Original finish throughout. The cabinet measures 110 cm in height, 85 cm in width, and 35 cm depth. Top of the cabinet overhangs at its back to sit flat against a wall (giving room for skirting boards).
This pier cabinet is in very good condition commensurate with age and use. Original finish retained. Minor historic marks, wear and repairs as is to be expected with genuine antique furniture. Please see images as these form an important part of the description.
